Unspoilt and peaceful, Finca Acehuche is an ideal setting for bird watching, walking or simply relaxing. It is at the centre of the cultural triangle of the historic towns of Trujillo, Cáceres and Merida.
The house has been sympathetically built and furnished. Traditional locally made chestnut french doors and windows with internal shutters and tiled floors create a simple and stylish interior.
Solar panels provide electricity powering an A++ energy efficient fridge, lighting, washing machine* etc. The walls and roof are well insulated, the house is designed to keep cool and shaded in the summer and capture passive solar heat and remain warm in the winter.
It has a large covered terrace, with views of the Sierra de Montánchez to the front. There is a table and chairs for eating, as well as a sofa and hammocks for relaxing.

Accommodation:
Living room with a sofa and chairs, radio/CD player, a selection of music and books. There is no TV or WiFi, however there are mobile phone signals. Kitchen area with belfast sink, cooker, washing machine*, larder fridge. Dining table and chairs. Woodburning stove for the cooler months.
Bedroom 1 with double bed and french windows opening onto the covered terrace at the front of the house.
Bedroom 2 with double bed and single bed.
Bathroom with shower, handbasin, WC.
Duvets and pillows are provided with bed linen and towels.
*washing machine (cold wash only) can only be used when the solar power permits. When it is not possible we have arranged for one machine wash with a neighbour, at our cost.

The geology feels ancient, with fascinating trackways and charming olive groves to explore. We were particularly impressed with the finca's 'off grid' systems which add to the 'getting away from it all' holiday experience and give a taste of self sufficiency.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the terrace was a cool haven to return to after a day sightseeing and birding on the plains. We found the information folder very useful, particularly regarding parking in Merida which was a lovely place full of history.
The terrace provided some wonderful experiences - sunrise from the hammock, breakfast al fresco, bird photography in the afternoon with some obliging performers, dinner in the evening, rounded off by the most amazing star show at night!" C & B Blake
